Oregon High School was recently recognized in Newsweek as being one of the top 2000 High Schools in the nation. The list is based on six components ....... graduation rate, college acceptance rate, AP/IB/AICE tests taken per student, average SAT/ACT scores, average AP/IB/AICE scores, and percent of students enrolled in at least one AP/IB/AICE course. The Oregon area is fortunate to be surrounded by three state parks, offering visitors a variety of recreational opportunities. Just north of town you can visit Lowden State Park, named in honor of former Governor Lowden who lived in the Oregon Area. Lowden Park is home to the statue of Blackhawk which is the second largest concrete monolith in the world. South of town is Castle Rock State Park, and west on Pines Road is White Pines State Park.
